New York Mets Superstar Pete Alonso calls into the Pat & Aaron Show to talk about his foundation "The Alonso Foundation." He first talks about how they helped out Fort Myers post Hurricane Ian...even though he's in New York. Then he talks about how they help out the less fortunate, veterans, animals, and more! Hey if you want to have some fun with your family next Saturday 1/14, you gotta check this event out...Plant HS alum, two time MLB All-Star and two time MLB Home Run Derby Champ Pete Alonso is hosting the first annual Battle For The Bay. Pete and his wife Haley established The Alonso Foundation to give back to the community and here it is, a youth home run derby at Plant HS with some very special guests...several MLB friends of Pete: Kyle Tucker of the Houston Astros, also a Plant alum, Christian Arroyo of the Red Sox, Gio Urshela from the Angels, and Tampa Rays great Carlos Pena will join the fun and put on a homerun contest of their own!
All the proceeds of the event, tickets are $10/$5 for youth, go to the Alonso Foundation that will be making much needed field improvements all over Tampa to help kids have a safe place to play while encouraging a healthy lifestyle. Tickets can be purchased at alonsofoundation.org, this thing is going to be A LOT of fun. There's a whole family fun-fest happening with food trucks, games and more so come on out to Plant, 3pm-6pm on Saturday the 14th.
