Report: Cowboys Are Leaking Fake Dak Prescott Contract Demands to Win PR

Divisional Round - Dallas Cowboys v Los Angeles Rams
Dan Patrick: “According to my source, the Cowboys are leaking that Dak Prescott wanted $40 million to try and curry favor with fans by making Dak and his agent look greedy.” (FULL Audio at Bottom of Page).

Listen to Dan Patrick discuss the bizarre contract dispute of Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, as it seems every a day a new update on what Dak’s ‘demands’ are seem to be spawning from the media every day.

On Monday, there were conflicting reports that Dak had turned down a $30 million per-year contract offer by the Cowboys, and instead, was asking for $40 million.

The 26-year-old is a year away from becoming an unrestricted free agent after the 2019 season and is obviously going to warrant, at least by his own admissions, one of the largest quarterback contracts in the league.

Prescott has gone to two Pro Bowls in three seasons, and has gone 32-16 as a starter after single handedly ending Tony Romo’s career in Dallas.

Quarterback contracts are a perpetual game of leapfrog, with QB’s annually elevating the market cap, but Prescott’s contract is going to be one of the NFL’s most complicated, given the amount of success he’s enjoyed playing on arguably the league’s best team on paper.

Check out the segment below as Dan Patrick says he’s got a source telling him that the $40 million Dak was rumored to be asking for was actually a made up number leaked by the Cowboys organization to stir up public discourse, considering there is no one around the sport who believes he would ever be worth that amount.
