Rays Season-Ticket Holder, Dickie V calls for Rays Owner To "Sell The Team"

Outspoken Rays Fan & ESPN Basketball Analyst Dick Vitale had some very angry, passionate words for Rays Owner Stu Sternberg following the team shedding of payroll and players the past few weeks.

Dickie V is a longtime season ticket holder for the Tampa Bay Rays and has taken to Social Media to show his frustration following the team's trades of longtime fan favorite Evan Longoria to the San Francisco Giants & starting pitcher Jake Odorizzi to the Minnesota Twins.

Those trades at least had some return for the Rays... Tampa Bay also designated the team's lone MLB All-Star from 2017, Corey Dickerson for assignment with a ten-day window to move the young slugger before getting absolutely nothing back.  Some of Dickie V's social media reactions from the deals are below...

But back to the Longo trade!

If ALL that wasn't enough, Vitale was was completely fed up when the Rays traded 2017 Team MVP, Steven Souza Jr, Tuesday night to the Arizona Diamondbacks as a part of a three-way trade between the two clubs and the New York Yankees.

After only getting prospects back in that deal, Dickie V stepped up his criticism from social media rants to a fired-up interview on 620 WDAE with Ronnie Lane and Tom Krasniqi!

Here's the part where he encourages to Rays Owner Stu Sternberg to sell the team!

Tampa Bay GM Erik Neander said the Rays now would look to replace Souza and add players, taking advantage of the buyer-friendly market, if deals make sense.  We're taking those comments with a grain of salt.

By the numbers, more than half of the Opening Day starters, half of the team’s home-run production, and half of the RBI’s from last season are now gone from the 2018 roster.
