(via Tampa Bay Buccaneers Communications) - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today the signing of all seven members of the team’s 2020 draft class: tackle Tristan Wirfs (first round), safety Antoine Winfield Jr. (second round), running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn (third round), wide receiver Tyler Johnson (fifth round), defensive lineman Khalil Davis (sixth round), linebacker Chapelle Russell (seventh round) and running back Raymond Calais (seventh round).
Wirfs (6-5, 320) was selected 13th overall, out of Iowa. He started 32-of-35 career games for the Hawkeyes from 2017-19, seeing time at both right and left tackle. In his final collegiate season, Wirfs earned first-team All-America honors from the Football Writers of America, Walter Camp Foundation and Phil Steele, while being named second-team All-America by the Associated Press, Football Coaches Association and The Athletic. In addition, Wirfs was selected first team All-Big Ten and was the recipient of the Rimington-Pace Offensive Lineman of the Year award for the Big Ten.
A native of Mount Vernon, Iowa, Wirfs will wear No. 78 for Tampa Bay.
Winfield (5-9, 203) was selected 45th overall, out of Minnesota, coming off a unanimous All-American senior season in 2019, in which he also was named Big Ten Defensive Back of the Year and a finalist for the Bronko Nagurski Award, recognizing the best defensive player in the nation. He started all 13 games as a senior, leading the team with 88 tackles (3.5 for loss) and tying a single-season school record with seven interceptions.
The Woodlands, Texas, native, amassed 177 career tackles (7.5 for loss), nine interceptions (193 return yards), 4.0 sacks, three touchdowns (one punt return and two interception returns) and two forced fumbles in 33 career games over four seasons. Winfield will wear No. 31 for Tampa Bay.
Vaughn (5-10, 214) played his final two collegiate seasons at Vanderbilt, tallying 355 carries for 2,272 yards (6.4 avg.) and 21 touchdowns over 24 games from 2018-19. He also contributed in the passing game with 41 receptions for 440 yards with the Commodores. Vaughn finished his Vanderbilt career third in school history in rushing touchdowns, fourth all-time in 100-yard rushing performances (nine) and fifth all-time in rushing yards.
Prior to Vanderbilt, Vaughn spent two seasons at Illinois, notching 1,024 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on 217 carries (4.7 avg.), while adding 25 receptions for 208 yards in the passing game. A native of Nashville, Tennessee, Vaughn will wear No. 30 for Tampa Bay.
Johnson (6-1, 206), a two-time All-Big Ten selection, set school records with 3,305 career receiving yards, 33 touchdowns and 16 100-yard receiving performances, while finishing second in program history with 213 career receptions in 49 career games.
In his senior season, Johnson started all 13 games, setting single-season Minnesota records with 86 receptions for 1,318 receiving yards and 13 receiving touchdowns. He ranked seventh in NCAA FBS in both receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. Johnson finished his collegiate career in the 2020 Outback Bowl, setting career highs with 12 receptions and 204 receiving yards in a win over Auburn. A native of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Johnson will wear No. 18 for Tampa Bay.
Davis (6-1, 308), a Nebraska product, earned third-team All-Big Ten honors in football from the coaches in 2019, while also being recognized as a NCAA Track & Field honorable mention All-American in discus. Over 47 career games, Davis totaled 106 tackles, 23 tackles for loss, 13.0 sacks, two passes defensed, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
In his senior season, Davis led the team with 8.0 sacks and 12 tackles for loss, while recording a career-best 45 tackles, which were the most among Nebraska’s defensive linemen in 2019. He was the fifth defensive player to be drafted by the Buccaneers out of Nebraska and the first since Pro Bowl inside linebacker, Lavonte David in 2012. Khalil’s twin brother, Carlos, was drafted in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. A native of Blue Springs, Missouri, Davis will wear No. 94 for Tampa Bay.
Russell (6-2, 236) played in 45 career games at Temple, notching 237 career tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss, nine passes defensed, six fumble recoveries, three forced fumbles and 3.0 sacks. In his senior season in 2019, he notched career bests with 72 tackles and nine tackles for loss, adding three passes defensed and earning Male Comeback Player of the Year recognition from Temple Athletics.
A native of Lakewood, New Jersey, Russell will wear No. 53 for Tampa Bay.
Calais (5-8, 188) appeared in 49 career games at Louisiana, recording 1,845 yards rushing and 15 rushing touchdowns on 236 career carries (7.8 avg.), while adding 17 receptions for 145 yards and one receiving touchdown. He also returned 99 kickoffs for 2,493 return yards (25.2 avg.) and two touchdowns in his career, earning first team All-Sun Belt honors in 2019 as a return specialist. Calais was selected third-team All-Sun Belt as a running back and an all-purpose back in his senior year. His career-high 886 rushing yards in 2019 ranked eighth in the Sun Belt Conference.
A native of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, Calais will wear No. 43 for Tampa Bay.
