The Boston Red Sox (81-81) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (80-82) 3-1 on Sunday afternoon at Fenway Park. With the loss, the Rays finished the season 80-82 in fourth place in the American League East - their first losing season since 2017.
Trailing 2-0 in the fourth, Dylan Carlson gave the Rays their only offense of the game whne he came through with a RBI single. Ryan Pepiot (8-8, 3.60) took the loss allowed two runs - one of them earned - on four hits while striking out five and walking two.
