Phillies Erupt In Eighth To Take Series From Rays

The Philadelphia Phillies (87-58) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (71-74) 9-4 on Tuesday night in Philadelphia.

Tied 4-4 going into the eighth inning, the Phillies erupted in the bottom of the eighth with five runs. Moments after Trea Turner hit a home run and Bryce Harper doubled, Rays pitcher Edwin Uceta hit Nick Castellanos in the back. Benches cleared and Uceta was ejected, while the Phillies went on to score five runs in that frame to take control.

The Rays will look to avoid being swept when they meet the Phillies in the series finale on Wednesday night. First pitch Wednesday is scheduled for 6:40 PM - pregame coverage begins with Ronnie Lane hosting the Inside Pitch at 5:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
