The Philadelphia Phillies (86-58) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (71-73) 2-1 on Monday evening at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
Kyle Schwarber hit a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth for Philadelphia, but the Rays were able to tie the game in the top of the ninth when Brandon Lowe hit a solo homer off the center fielder's glove to tie the game 1-1. The Phillis were able to answer in the bottom of the ninth when Kody Clemens came through with a walk-off single to give the Phillies the win.
The Rays will look to bounce back in the second game of the three-game series coming up on Tuesday night. First pitch on Tuesday is scheduled for 6:40 PM - Chris Adams-Wall begins pregame coverage at 6:00 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620 your Home of Rays Baseball.
