Rays Offense Erupts To Even Series With Orioles

The Tampa Bay Rays (70-72) defeated the Baltimore Orioles (82-81) 7-1 on Saturday evening in Baltimore to even the three game series at a game apiece.

Yandy Diaz set the pace for the offense, going 3-for-4 including a home run to lead off the game. Taylor Walls also had a nice game for the Rays, going 2-for-3 - his first home run of the season came in the third inning to give Tampa Bay a 2-0 lead. He then had a RBI single in the sixth to make it 3-0.

After Baltimore answered with a Cullin Mullins solo shot in the sixth, Tampa Bay added two in the seventh, one in the eighth and one in the ninth to turn this game into a blowout.

Ryan Pepiot (8-6, 3.66) got the win allowing one earned run on six hits in his five innings of work while striking out four and walking two. Former Ray Zach Eflin (10-8, 3.65) took the loss, allowing three earned runs on eight hits in five and two-third innings of work.

The Rays will now try to win the series against the Orioles coming up on Sunday afternoon. First pitch on Sunday is scheduled for 12:05 PM - Chris Adams-Wall pregame coverage begins at 11:30 AM on 620 WDAE.
