Rays Even Series With Padres

The Tampa Bay Rays (67-68) defeated the San Diego Padres (77-60) 11-4 on Saturday afternoon to even the three game series at 1-1.

After San Diego got two in the top of the first, the Rays answered with one in the bottom of the first before erupting with four in the second to take the lead. They added three in the fourth, one in the fifth and two in the eighth to turn the game into a blowout.

Shane Baz (2-2, 3.49) got the win by allowing two earned runs on just two hits in five innings while striking out five and walking three.

The Rays and Padres now meet in the rubber game of the three-game series coming up on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1:40 PM - pregame coverage begins with Chris Adams-Wall hosting This Week In Rays Baseball at high noon on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
