Rays Even Series With Mariners

The Tampa Bay Rays (66-66) defeated the Seattle Mariners (67-66) 3-2 on Tuesday night in Seattle. The Rays have evened the three-game series at a game apiece.

Seattle took a 1-0 lead in the sixth inning, but the Rays promptly answered in the seventh. Jose Siri hit a two-run homer to make it 2-1, then in the eighth Yandy Diaz hit a solo homer to make it 3-1. The Mariners pulled within 3-2 but the Rays held on to pull back to .500 on the season.

Jeffrey Springs hot the start and allowed just one hit in five shutout innings while striking out nine and walking two. Manuel Rodriguez earned his second save after working the ninth inning.

The Rays will now try to win the series against the Mariners coming up on Wednesday afternoon. First pitch on Wednesday is scheduled for 4:10 PM - pregame coverage begins with the Inside Pitch at 3:00 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
