The Seattle Mariners (67-65) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (65-66) 5-1 on Monday night in the Pacific Northwest. It was the second loss in a row for the Rays, who are now 3-5 in the first eight games of their West Coast road trip.
Randy Arozarena was the difference in this game, playing in his first game against his former team since being acquired by the Mariners on July 26th. Tied 1-1 in the third, Arozarena blasted a three-run homer for Seattle and the Mariners never looked back en route to a 5-1 win.
The Rays will look to bounce back in the second game of the three-game series coming up on Tuesday night. First pitch on Tuesday is scheduled for 9:40 PM - Chris Adams-Wall begins pregame coverage at 9:00 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
