Rays Drop Finale In Oakland

The Oakland As (55-73) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (64-63) 3-1 on Thursday afternoon in Oakland. The Rays and As split the four-game series at 2-2, in what is expected to be the final trip to Oakland for the Rays.

Oakland got three earned runs - two in the second and one in the third - off Rays starter Jeffrey Springs (1-2, 4.50). He finished the game pitching only three and one-third innings allowing seven hits while striking out three and walking two.

The Rays got their only offense in the gamein the fourth when Jose Caballero hit a RBI double to make it 3-1, which would prove to be the final score.

The Rays now head to Los Angeles and will begin a three-game series against the Dodgers on Friday night. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 10:10 PM - Chris Adams-Wall begins pregame coverage at 9:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
