The Oakland Athletics (54-71) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (62-62) 3-0 late Monday night in Oakland. The loss snaps the Rays win streak at three games.
The As got to Rays starter Taj Bradley (6-8, 3.55) for three earned runs on five hits while he struck out only two and walked three. A two-run homer from JJ Bleday in the first and a sacrifice fly from Lawrence Butler in the fifth would be the only offense of the night for both teams.
