The Houston Astros (64-55) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (59-60) 3-2 on Tuesday night at Tropicana Field. The Rays have now dropped two in a row to the Atros.
Junior Caminero made his highly anticipated 2024 major league debut - ranked the #2 overall prospect throughout baseball, he went 1-for-4 on the night with a single and three strikeouts.
The Rays took a 1-0 lead in the second thanks to a RBI single from Josh Lowe. Houston got single runs in the third, fifth and sixth to build a 3-1 lead. Tampa Bay got one of those runs back in the eighth when Brandon Lowe hit into a RBI groundout with the bases loaded, and that would be as close as the Rays got on the night.
The Rays now look to bounce back and salvage the series finale on Wednesday night. First pitch Wednesday is scheduled for 6:40 PM - pregame coverage begins with Ronnie Lane hosting the Inside Pitch at 5:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
