Marlins Salvage Finale From Rays

The Miami Marlins (40-68) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (55-53) 6-2 on Wednesday afternoon at Tropicana Field. The loss snaps the Rays winning streak at three games.

The Rays took a 1-0 lead in the first inning thanks to a homer from new Rays Christopher Morel, who had homers in each of his first two games since being acquired from the Cubs in the Isaac Paredes deal. After the Marlins tied the game 1-1, Jonny DeLuca hit a RBI triple to make it 2-1 in the bottom of the second inning.

That would be the last lead of the game for the Rays, who allowed three runs in the third and two in the seventh. Taj Bradley (6-5, 2.71) took the loss, allowing four earned runs on four hits while striking out six and walking one in just five innings of work.

The Rays are now off on Thursday before traveling to Houston to play the Astros in a three-game series beginning on Friday. First pitch on Friday night is scheduled for 8:10 PM - pregame coverage begins with Ronnie Lane hosting the Inside Pitch at 7:00 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
