The Tampa Bay Rays (55-52) defeated the Miami Marlins (39-68) 9-3 on Tuesday night at Tropicana Field. The Rays have now won three in a row and are now three games above .500 for the first time since May 19th.
The game started well for Miami, who took a 2-0 lead in the first and, after the Rays got one back in the fourth, took a 3-1 lead in the fifth.
The Rays erupted for five runs in the sixth inning, two in the seventh and on in the eighth to turn this game into a blowout. Yandy Diaz, Josh Lowe, Jose Caballero and Ben Rortvedt each had two hits to key the Rays offense.
