The New York Yankees (60-42) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (50-50) 9-1 on Monday afternoon at Yankee Stadium. The Rays and Yankees split a four-game wraparound series at Yankee Stadium.
New York was able to get to Rays starter Zach Littell (3-7, 4.46) for five earned runs on nine htis in five and two-third innings of work. After he was lifted, Yankees slugger Juan Soto hit two home runs to turn this game into a blowout.
The Rays now travel to Toronto for a three-game series against the Blue Jays beginning on Tuesday night.
