Rangers Rout Rays To Sweep Series

The Texas Rangers (42-48) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (44-46) 13-2 on Sunday afternoon in Arlington, Texas, to complete a three-game sweep. The Rays lost five of the six games they played to Texas this year, after being swept out of the playoffs in the AL Wild Card round in the 2023 Postseason.

The Rays did take a 2-1 lead in the third inning after Jose Caballero blasted a two-run homer in the third inning. However, Texas came to life beginning with a 6-run fourth inning off Rays starter Zack Littell. They added three runs in the fifth off Shawn Armstrong and the rout was on.

Littell (3-6, 4.44) finished the game allowing seven earned runs on nine hits while striking out five and walking one. Rangers starter Nathan Eovaldi (6-3, 3.10) allowed two earned runs on four hits while striking out five in his seven innings of work.

The Rays return home and are off on Monday before beginning a three-game series against the Yankees on Tuesday night. First pitch on Tuesday is scheduled for 6:50 PM - pregame coverage begins with Ronnie Lane hosting the Inside Pitch at 5:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
