Rays Rout Mariners For Third Straight Win

The Tampa Bay Rays (40-40) blew out the Seattle Mariners (45-37) 11-3 on Tuesday night at Tropicana Field. The Rays have now won three in a row and have pulled their record back to .500.

Yandy Diaz homered to lead off the game before Joe Siri had a RBi hit in the second to make it 2-0. Seattle tied the game 2-2 in the fifth when Ty France hit a two-run homer, but the Rays began to pull away in the sixth. Taylor Walls hit a two-run triple before Ben Rortvedt hit a two-run homer to make it 6-2.

The Rays added three in the seventha nd two in the eighth to make it an 11-3 ballgame. Rortvedt led the way, finishing the game 2-for-3 with four RBIs and a run scored.

The Rays now will try to sweep the Seattle Mariners when the two teams meet in the series finale on Wednesday afternoon. First pitch Wednesday is scheduled for 12:10 PM - pregame coverage begins with Ronnie Lane hosting the Inside Pitch at 11:00 AM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
