The Tampa Bay Rays (36-39) defeated the Minnesota Twins (41-34) 7-6 in ten innings on Thursday afternoon in Minnesota. The win gives the Rays a road series win against the Twins.
The game was tied 2-2 going into the eighth inning before the Rays took a 3-2 lead in the eighth. Tampa Bay then tried to add some separation with three runs, thanks to a solo homer from Jose Siri and a two-run blast from Yandy Diaz.
However, the Twins answered with four runs in the bottom of the frame including a three-run homer from Jose Miranda. Tied 6-6, this game would head to extra innings.
In the top of the tenth Johnny DeLuca drove in a run to give the Rays a 7-6 advantage. Pete Fairbanks (2-3, 3.51), who came into the game in the ninth inning with the team in trouble, worked a scoreless bottom of the tenth to earn the victory.
