Rays Beat Pirates In Series Opener

The Tampa Bay Rays (37-39) defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates (36-39) 10-3 on Friday night in Pittsburgh. The Rays have now won three in a row after taking the last two in Minnesota.

Josh Lowe hit a pair of home runs to help the Rays offense erupt in this game. His first one gave the Rays a 2-0 lead in the third inning. From there the Rays built a 4-0 lead in the top of the fourth before Pittsburgh answered with two in the bottom of the frame.

Josh Lowe's second homer came in the top of the sixth and was a three-run blast that made it 7-2 and gave the Rays some separation. Ben Rortvedt hit a three-run blast in the ninth inning to put the game away at 10-3.

The Rays will now look to make it four in a row and claim a series against the Pirates on Saturday afternoon. First pitch on Saturday is scheduled for 4:05 PM - Chris Adams-Wall begins pregame coverage at 3:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
