Rays Erupt For Win Over Marlins

The Tampa Bay Rays (30-31) blew out the Miami Marlins (21-40) 9-5 on Tuesday night in Miami. The win is the second in a row for Tampa Bay.

Miami got on the board first, putting together a three-run first inning. The Rays answered in the fourth - Brandon Lowe hit a three-run homer to tie the game 3-3, before Jose Siri gave the Rays a 4-3 lead with a RBI double.

The Rays added five in the fifth inning to turn this game into a blowout. Brandon Lowe finished the game going 2-for-4 with five RBIs and two runs scored.

The Marlins got single runs in the seventh and eighth to pull within 9-5. Though the Marlins got the bases loaded with no out, closer Pete Fairbanks then entered and retired all three batters he faced to earn his seventh save and secure the victory.

The Rays now look to sweep the short two-game series against the Marlins when the two teams meet in the finale on Wednesday night. First pitch Wednesday is scheduled for 6:40 PM - pregame coverage begins with Ronnie Lane hosting the Inside Pitch at 5:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball..
