The Baltimore Orioles (36-19) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (28-30) 3-1 on Friday night at Camden Yards in Baltimore. The win snaps a two-game winning streak for Tampa Bay.
Ben Rortvedt gave the Rays a 1-0 lead with a RBI single in the second inning. That would hold until the sixth inning, when Baltimore put up a three-spot. Austin Hays drove in a run to tie the game, before Jorge Mateo hit a two-run double to make it 3-1.
Aaron Civale got the start and allowed just one earned run on six hits in five and one-third innings of work for the Rays. Richard Lovelady (1-4, 9.00) took the loss out of the bullpen giving up two earned runs while getting just one out.
Tampa Bay will now look to even the series in game two on Saturday afternoon. First pitch from Baltimore is scheduled for 4:05 PM - Chris Adams-Wall begins pregame coverage at 3:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
