Rays Beat Royals To Snap Skid At Six

The Tampa Bay Rays (26-28) beat the Kansas City Royals (34-20) 4-1 on Sunday afternoon at Tropicana Field. The win snaps the Rays losing skid at six games.

Former Ray Michael Wacha (4-5, 4.31) was perfect through five innings against the Rays. In the top of the sixth the Royals got a solo homer from Bobby Witt Jr, before the Rays got their first hit in the sixth.

Then in the seventh they broke through for four runs - the key moment came when Brandon Lowe hit a 3-run triple that gave Tampa Bay a 3-1 lead. Jose Siri added a RBI single that made it 4-1.

Taj Bradley got the start and pitched five shutout innings in which he allowed just one hit wihle striking out six and walking three. Garrett Cleavinger (4-0, 1.66) earned the victory out of the bullpen, while Pete Fairbanks worked a scoreless ninth for his fifth save.

The Rays are now off on Monday but remain at home and will begin a three-game series against the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday night.
