Red Sox Hand Rays Third Straight Loss

The Boston Red Sox (25-24) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (25-25) 5-2 on Tuesday night at Tropicana Field. The Rays have now lost three in a row.

Isaac Paredes drove in two in the first inning with a single that made it 2-0 Tampa Bay. That would be the only offense on the night for Tampa Bay, before Boston rallied with one in the second and one in the sixth to tie the game 2-2. Boston then got two in the eighth and one in the ninth to pull away to a 5-2 win.

Zack Littell got the start and allowed two earned runs in five and two-thirds innings in which he struck out seven and walked one while allowing three hits. Jason Adam (2-1, 2.05) lost the game out of the bullpen with two runs allowed in the eighth inning.

The Rays now look to salvage the finale of the series on Wednesday night. Ryan Pepiot (3-2, 3.68) is scheduled to start for the Rays, against Brayan Bello for Boston. First pitch is scheduled for 6:50 PM - pregame coverage begins with Ronnie Lane hosting the Inside Pitch at 5:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
