Rays Open Road Trip With Win Over Red Sox

The Tampa Bay Rays (21-21) defeated the Boston Red Sox (21-20) 5-3 on Monday night at Fenway Park in Boston. The Rays have now won seven of their last ten games.

Amed Rosario had two extra-base hits to set the pace. He had a two-run triple in the first to make it 2-0, before coming through with a huge insurance run in the eighth inning that made it 5-3 in favor of the Rays, which would prove to be the final score. He finished the day going 2-for-4 with three RBIs and one run scored.

Zach Eflin (3-4, 3.91) got the start and allowed three earned runs on six hits in five innings of work in which he struck out two and walked none. Kevin Kelly worked two innings and Garret Clevinger struck out the side in the eighth before Jason Adam earned his third save by striking out the side in the ninth inning.

The Rays and Red Sox will now meet in the second game of the four-game series on Tuesday night. First pitch Tuesday is scheduled for 7:10 PM - pregame coverage begins with the Inside Pitch at 6:00 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of the Rays.
