Rays Even Series With Yankees

The Tampa Bay Rays (20-20) defeated the New York Yankees (26-15) 7-2 on Saturday evening at Tropicana Field. The win evens the three-game series at one game apiece.

The Rays big bats came to life in this one to lead the way. Yandy Diaz went 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs, three runs scored and a homer, while Randy Arozarena went 2-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs scored. After New York took a 2-1 lead in the second, the Rays scored three in the fourth and three in the seventh to take control of this game.

Zack Littell (2-2, 3.02) got the win after allowing two earned runs on four hits in five and two-third innings of work. A bullpen combination of Garrett Cleavinger, Jason Adam, Phil Maton and Pete Fairbanks combined to keep the Yankees of the board - for Fairbanks, it marked a successful return from the IL.

The Rays now look to win the series in the finale of the homestand against the Yankees on Sunday afternoon. First pitch on Sunday is scheduled for 1:40 PM - Tyler Alexander (1-1, 4.96) is scheduled to start for the Rays, opposed by Luis Gil (3-1, 2.92) for New York.
