The Tampa Bay Rays (6-6) defeated the Los Angeles Angels (6-5) 6-4 on Tuesday night in Anaheim. The win evens the three-game series going into the series finale on Wednesday.
Mike Trout hit a two-run homer in the first, but the Rays answered with two in the second and two in the fourth to build a 4-2 lead. After the Angels pulled within 4-3, Isaac Paredes hit a solo homer in the seventh to make it 5-3. Harold Ramirez added some insurance with a RBI single in the eighth inning that made it 6-3.
The Angels got one back in the ninth inning off reliever Pete Fairbanks, who closed out his first save of the season. Aaron Civale (2-1, 2.21) got the win for the Rays, allowing three runs (two of them earned) on four hits while striking out four and walking one in five innings of work.
The Rays now look to win the three-game series against the Angels when they meet in the finale on Wednesday afternoon. Zack Littell (1-0, 0.82) is scheduled to start for the Rays and face Jose Soriano (0-1, 4.50) for the Angels.
