Rays Hang On For Series Win Over Rockies

The Tampa Bay Rays (5-5) defeated the Colorado Rockies (2-8) 3-2 on Sunday afternoon in Denver. The win gives the Rays a series win in the first road season of 2024.

Ryan Pepiot (1-1, 4.63) was brilliant, allowing three hits in six shutout innings while striking out a career high eleven and walking none. Shawn Armstrong worked the final two innings for his first save of the season.

The Rays got two runs in the second with RBI hits from Austin Shenton and Jose Siri. Isaac Paredes drove in a run to make it 3-0 in the third inning, which would prove to be the offense Tampa Bay would need for the win. Colorado got one in the eighth and one in the ninth to hang on for the win.

The Rays now travel to Anaheim where they will play the Los Angeles Angels for a three-game series beginning on Monday night. First pitch Monday night is scheduled for 9:38 PM - pregame coverage begins with Ronnie Lane hosting the Inside Pitch at 8:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
