The Toronto Blue Jays (2-2) blew out the Tampa Bay Rays (2-2) 9-2 on Sunday afternoon at Tropicana Field. The two teams split the season opening series at Tropicana Field.
Toronto scored early and often, coming up with two runs before the Rays got a turn to bat in the first. Randy Arozarena hit a solo homer in the bottom of the first, and Isaac Paredes hit a solo homer in the bottom of the ninth - those two homers would account for the only offense of the day. Toronto got homers from Justin Turner and Davis Schneider in the fifth to turn the game into a blowout.
The Rays will remain at home for the second series of the season when they host the defending World Series champion Texas Rangers beginning on Monday night.
