Blue Jays Rout Rays To Salvage Split In Opening Series

The Toronto Blue Jays (2-2) blew out the Tampa Bay Rays (2-2) 9-2 on Sunday afternoon at Tropicana Field. The two teams split the season opening series at Tropicana Field.

Toronto scored early and often, coming up with two runs before the Rays got a turn to bat in the first. Randy Arozarena hit a solo homer in the bottom of the first, and Isaac Paredes hit a solo homer in the bottom of the ninth - those two homers would account for the only offense of the day. Toronto got homers from Justin Turner and Davis Schneider in the fifth to turn the game into a blowout.

The Rays will remain at home for the second series of the season when they host the defending World Series champion Texas Rangers beginning on Monday night. First pitch on Monday is scheduled for 6:50 PM - pregame coverage begins with Ronnie Lane hosting the Inside Pitch at 5:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
