The Tampa Bay Rays (99-63) defeated the Toronto Blue Jays (89-73) 12-8 on Sunday afternoon in Toronto. The second-best regular season in team history ended with 99 wins, second only to the 2021 team that won 100 games in the regular season.
It was also a historic day for first baseman Yandy Diaz. With a .330 average, Yandy became the first player in franchise history to win an American League batting title.
The Rays now know they will host the Texas Rangers in the Best-of-Three playoff series beginning on Tuesday.
