The Baltimore Orioles (100-59) beat the Boston Red Sox (76-83) 2-0 on Thursday night to win the American League East crown.
This means the Tampa Bay Rays (97-62) will finish second in the AL East, and qualify for the postseason as the American League's top wildcard spot. The best-of-three Wild Card series is scheduled to run October 3, 4 and 5 at Tropicana Field.
