The Tampa Bay Rays (93-59) defeated the Los Angeles Angels (68-83) 6-2 on Tuesday night at Tropicana Field.
Randy Arozarena hit a two-run homer in the first inning to give the Rays an early lead. The Angels got one in the fourth and one in the top of the eighth inning to tie the game 2-2 late.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Rays offense came to life. Osleivis Basabe hit a two-run double to break the tie, and moments later Rene Pinto added a two-run single to turn the game into a 6-2 win.
Rookie Taj Bradley got the start and allowed one earned run on three hits in five innings of work. He struck out six and walked one in his outing.
The Rays and Angels meet in the second game of their three game series on Wednesday night. Aaron Civale (7-3, 3.06) will start for the Rays and face Red Detmers (3-10, 4.77) for the Angels. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 PM - Ronnie & T-Kras begin pregame coverage with the Inside Pitch at 5:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
