Rays Clinch Playoff Spot

The Baltimore Orioles (93-56) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (92-59) 5-4 in eleven innings on Sunday afternoon. The loss sets the Rays back to two games behind the Orioles in the AL East, though both teams clinched a spot in the postseason because of the Texas Rangers loss to the Cleveland Guardians earlier in the day.

The Rays got homers from Brandon Lowe, Tristan Gray and Christian Bethancourt to take a 3-1 lead. The Orioles rallied to tie the game 3-3 in the ninth inning.

Both teams traded runs in the tenth - after the Rays couldn't score in their half of the eleventh, Baltimore walked it off with a 5-4 win in the bottom of the frame. Cedric Mullins sacrifice fly was the game winner.

The Rays are now off on Monday before beginning a three-game series against the Angels at Tropicana Field on Tuesday. First pitch Tuesday is scheduled for 6:40 PM - Ronnie & T-Kras begin pregame coverage with the Inside Pitch at 6:00 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
