The Tampa Bay Rays (87-56) defeated the Seattle Mariners (79-63) 7-5 on Saturday evening at Tropicana Field. The Rays have now taken a 2-1 lead in the four-game weekend series with the Ms.
The Mariners built leads of 3-0 in the first and 4-1 in the second before the Rays rallied. They got two in the fifth and two in the seventh to take a 5-4 lead, before the Mariners got a run back in the eighth to tie the game.
Tied 5-5 in the ninth, the Rays were down to their final out when the #9 hitter Taylor Walls took a walk. Moments later Yandy Diaz hit a walk-off, two-run homer to lift the Rays to a 7-5 win.
