The Boston Red Sox (72-66) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (83-55) 7-3 on Monday afternoon at Tropicana Field.
The Rays built a 3-0 lead in the first inning thanks to a two-run single from Brandon Lowe and a RBI double from Harold Ramirez.
The Red Sox got one back in the fourth, before taking control of the game in the sixth when Triston Casas hit a three-run homer. Boston added three in the eighth to create some insurance en route to a 7-3 win.
Aaron Civale struck out a career-high twelve batters in five and a third innings of work, before being pulled with one out in the sixth and two runs on. Chris Devenski (3-4, 5.40) allowed the three-run homer to Casas that turned the game in Boston's favor.
