Guardians Take Opener From Rays

The Cleveland Guardians (65-70) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (82-52) 3-2 on Friday night in Cleveland. The loss snaps the Rays winning streak at four.

The Rays got RBI doubles from Randy Arozarena in the first and Rene Pinto in the second to build an early 2-0 lead. That lead would not be enough as Cleveland scored in the third to pull within 2-1. Then in the seventh the Guardians got to Tyler Glasnow with RBI hits from Gabriel Arias and Bo Naylor to take a 3-2 win.

Glasnow (7-5, 3.17) took the loss after allowing three earned runs on seven hits while striking out six and walking none.

The Rays will look to even the series in the middle game of the series on Saturday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:10 PM - Chris Adams-Wall begins pregame coverage at 5:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
