Rays Sweep Short Series in Miami

The Tampa Bay Rays (82-52) swept the Miami Marlins (66-67) in a short two-game series in Miami this week.

Tampa Bay blew out Miami in the opener on Tuesday night, getting an 11-2 victory. Aaron Civale (7-3, 2.64) earned the victory after allowing two earned runs on seven hits in five innings. The Rays offensive outburst included homers from Randy Arozarena, Josh Lowe and Isaac Paredes.

Wednesday night's game was a pitching duel between both clubs. Zach Eflin worked into the seventh inning without allowing a run, before Colin Poche and Shawn Armstrong (1-0, 0.89) ensured Miami could not score a run in nine innings. Tied 0-0 going into extras, Josh Lowe drove in a run before Randy Arozarena hit a two-run single that gave the Rays a 3-0 advantage. Pete Fairbanks earned his 18th save after working a 1-2-3 bottom of the tenth inning.

The Rays are now off on Thursday as they head to Cleveland for a three game series against the Guardians beginning on Friday night. Tyler Glasnow (7-4, 3.12) is expected to start the first game for the Rays on Friday night.
