Rays Take Series From Yankees

The Tampa Bay Rays (80-52) defeated the New York Yankees (62-68) 7-4 on Sunday afternoon. After dropping the opener on Friday night, the Rays defeated the Yankees in the next two to win the three game series.

Brandon Lowe was the star in this one. He hit a solo homer in the first that made it 2-0, a two-run single in the sixth that broke a tie to give the Rays a 6-4 lead, and a RBI double in the eighth to add some insurance and make it a 7-4 ballgame.

Zack Littell (3-4, 4.45) allowed four earned runs on four hits in six innings of work to strike out four and walk one. Jason Adam worked a 1-2-3 ninth inning to earn his 12th save.

The Rays are now off on Monday before beginning a short two-game series with the Marlins in Miami on Tuesday night. Aaron Civale (6-3, 2.59) is scheduled to get the start Tuesday for the Rays. First pitch from south Florida is scheduled for 6:40 PM on Tuesday - Ronnie & T-Kras begin pregame coverage at 5:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
