Rays Complete Sweep of Rockies

The Tampa Bay Rays (78-51) beat the Colorado Rockies (48-79) 5-3 on Thursday afternoon at Tropicana Field. The Rays completed a sweep over the Rockies in the interleague series and have now won four games in a row.

Tampa Bay built a 2-0 lead before Nolan Jones hit a three-run homer to give Colorado a 3-2 lead in the fifth. Isaac Peredes hit a solo homer in the sixth to tie the game 3-3, and then it it was Josh Lowe coming through in the eighth inning with two-run blast that gave the Rays the victory.

Jason Adam (4-2, 2.77) got the win after pitching the seventh and eighth without allowing a hit and striking out five. Pete Fairbanks struck out the side in the ninth to earn his 16th save of the season.

The Rays now host the Yankees for a three-game division series beginning on Friday night. Zach Eflin (13-7, 3.58) will get the start opposed by Yankees ace Gerrit Cole (10-4, 3.03).
