The San Francisco Giants (64-56) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (72-50) 7-0 on Friday night in San Francisco.
Zack Littell (2-4, 3.99) had a good night, pitching five shutout innings. The Giants got to him for two runs in the sixth to tag him with the loss, but it was still an effective outing for the righthander who allowed three hits while striking out five and walking none.
The Giants added two in the seventh and two in the eighth to turn this game into a blowout.
The Rays and Giants will now meet in the rubber game of the three game series on Wednesday afternoon. Aaron Civale will make his third start for the Rays since being acquired in a trade from Cleveland. First pitch on Wednesday is scheduled for 3:40 PM - Jay Recher & Zac Blobner begin pregame coverage with the Inside Pitch at 2:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
