Rays Rout Giants In Opener of California Trip

The Tampa Bay Rays (72-49) defeated the San Francisco Giants (63-56) 10-2 late Monday night in San Francisco.

Tyler Glasnow returned to the mound after dealing with some back ailments and was dominant. He needed just 87 pitches to get through six innings allowed one earned run on three hits while striking out seven and walking two.

The offense provided him plenty of support, getting ten runs on eighteen hits. All nine members of the lineup had at least one hit - Harold Ramirez, Curtis Mead and Christian Bethncourt each had three hits to set the pace. Bethancourt also blasted his eighth home run of the season in the seventh inning.

The Rays will now look to win the series against the Giants when they meet in the second game of their three game series on Monday night. Righthander Zack Littell (2-3, 4.10) is expected to start for the Rays and expected to face fellow righty Jakob Junis (3-3, 4.36).
