The St. Louis Cardinals (51-65) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (69-48) 5-2 on Thursday evening at Tropicana Field.
Cardinals lefty Matthew Liberatore (2-4, 5.72) kept the Rays off-balance all night, pitching eight shutout innings in which he allowed just two hits while striking out seven and walking none.
His counterpart Zack Littell (2-3, 4.10) allowed three earned runs on seven hits in six innings - that was more then enough for St. Louis on this night.
The Rays now host the Cleveland Guardians for a three game series beginning on Friday night. First pitch Friday is scheduled for 6:40 PM - Tom Krasniqi begins pregame coverage with the Inside Pitch at 5:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
