Yankees Take Finale From Rays

The New York Yankees (56-52) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (66-45) 7-2 on Wednesday night to claim the series finale. The Yankees were able to avoid being swept after the Rays won the first two games of the series.

Shane McClanahan (11-2, 3.29) allowed five earned runs on five hits in just four innings of work. Afterwards, he said he felt tightness on the outside of his left forearm - he will leave the team to fly back to Tampa Bay on Thursday to have it evaluated by team doctors.

Wander Franco gave the Rays their only offense of the night when he hit a two-run homer in the first inning, his 14th home run of the season.

The Rays are now off on Thursday before heading to Detroit to begin a three-game series against the Tigers. For Tampa Bay, it is the final swing of their nine-game, three-city road trip that has begun with the team going 4-2. After making his best start of his career his last time up, Zack Littell (1-2, 4.85) is scheduled to start for the Rays. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 PM - Tom Krasniqi begins pregame coverage with the Inside Pitch at 5:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
