The Tampa Bay Rays (62-42) defeated the Miami Marlins (54-48) 4-1 on Tuesday night at Tropicana Field to win the first game of the Citrus Series.
Tyler Glasnow (4-3, 3.36) was dominant, allowing one earned run on two hits in seven innings of work while striking out eight and walking two.
The Rays took the lead in the second with a RBI single from Josh Lowe and a RBI double from Yandy Diaz to make it 3-0. The Marlins got one back in the third, but Brandon Lowe hit a solo homer in the sixth to make it 4-1.
The Rays go into Wednesday 1.5 games behind the Orioles in the AL East. They will play the Marlins in the second game of a short two-game series on Wednesday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 12:10 PM - Chris Adams-Wall begins pregame coverage at 11 AM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
