The Miami Marlins (55-48) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (62-43) 7-1 on Wednesday afternoon at Tropicana Field. The Rays and Marlins split the short two-game series at the Trop, the first two games of this year's Citrus Series.
Zach Eflin (11-6, 3.64) took the loss after allowing five earned runs on seven hits while striking out three and walking one. He left the game after finishing the fourth inning with what the team called left knee discomfort.
Jose Siri provided the only offense for the Rays with a RBI single in the third inning.
The Rays are now off on Thursday before going on the road for a nine-game road trip that begins in Houston on Friday night. Shane McClanahan is scheduled to start against the Astros on Friday night. First pitch Friday is scheduled for 8:10 PM - Ronnie & T-Kras begin pregame coverage with the Inside Pitch at 7:00 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
