Phillies Hand Rays Fourth Straight Loss

The Philadelphia Phillies (46-39) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (57-32) 8-4 on Tuesday evening at Tropicana Field. For the Rays, it was their fourth straight loss, the first time this season Tampa Bay has lost four in a row.

Brandon Lowe drove in a pair in the first to give the Rays an early 2-0 lead. The two teams went back and forth until the fifth inning, when Philadelphia erupted for two in the fifth, one in the sixth, and two more in the seventh to take control of this game.

Zack Littell allowed two runs in two innings as the opener, before Yonny Chirinos (4-4, 3.95) came into the game. He allowed three earned runs on eight hits while striking out one and walking none in two and two-third innings of work as the bulk pitcher.

The Rays now look to avoid being swept against the Phillies on Thursday night. First pitch Thursday is scheduled for 6:40 PM - Ronnie & T-Kras begin pregame coverage with the Inside Pitch at 5:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
