Mariners Take Series From Rays

The Seattle Mariners (40-42) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (58-29) 7-6 on Sunday afternoon.

The Rays put a four-spot on the board in the top of the third inning to take what was at the time a 6-1 lead. However, the Mariners answered with four runs off Taj Bradley in the bottom of the third to pull within 6-5. Bradley finished the game allowing five earned runs on nine hits while striking out three and walking one in just three and one-third innings.

Tom Murphy hit a solo home run in the sixth to tie the game 6-6. In the bottom of the seventh the Mariners loaded the bases before Jason Adam (2-2, 3.06) hit Jose Caballero to force in the go-ahead run.

The Rays are now off on Monday before beginning the final homestand before the All-Star Break on Tuesday afternoon. They host the Phillies in the first three games of the homestand, which begins at 4:10 PM on July 4th at Tropicana Field. Chris Adams-Wall begins pregame coverage for the Rays at 3:30 PM on Independence Day on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
