The Tampa Bay Rays (57-28) defeated the Seattle Mariners (38-42) 15-4 on Friday night in the Pacific Northwest.
Rays ace Shane McClanahan lasted only three innings before being pulled with a back tightness issue. Rays manager Kevin Cash said after the game he did not know if the injury would require him to miss time or go on the IL.
Seattle built a 4-0 lead in the second inning. Tampa Bay got two runs in the fourth, a run in the fifth and a run in the sixth to tie the game 4-4. The Rays offense erupted for eight runs in the eighth, and added another three in the ninth, to turn the game into a blowout.
The Rays and Mariners now meet in the second game of their three game series on Saturday evening. Tyler Glasnow is expected to start for the Rays and face George Kirby for the Ms. First pitch Saturday night is scheduled for 7:15 PM ET in Seattle - Chris Adams-Wall begins pregame coverage at 6:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
