Rays Rally To Stun Diamondbacks

The Tampa Bay Rays (55-28) beat the Arizona Diamondbacks (48-33) 3-2 on Wednesday night in Phoenix.

Arizona built a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning, and it looked as though that lead would be all the offense of this game. In the ninth inning, Tampa Bay's offense came to life. After Luke Raley drove in a run to pull the Rays within 2-1, Josh Lowe hit a two-run double to give the Rays the lead they would need to claim this victory.

Zach Eflin kept the Rays in this game by pitching seven innings in which he allowed two earned runs on seven hits while striking out seven and walking none. Colin Poche (6-2, 2.12) got the win out of the bullpen after pitching a scoreless eighth inning, before Pete Fairbanks earned his ninth save with a scoreless ninth inning.

The Rays now look to win the three-game series against the Diamondbacks on Thursday afternoon. First pitch on Thursday is scheduled for 3:40 PM - Zac Blobner begins coverage with the Inside Pitch at 2:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
